Here are some frequently asked questions that family and friends usually have, and the answers to go along with them:
Q: I haven't heard from my Soldier in quite a while, is he ok?
A: Yes. If anything major has happened to your Soldier, you would have
been notified. If you haven't recieved a phone call yet, or in a while, its because the privates to not get phone privileges all the time. They
have had ample time to write letters lately, so if you haven't recieved
a letter in a while its because your Soldier hasn't chose to write one.
Q: Can I contact my Soldiers Drill Sergeant to check up on their progress?
A: No. The drill sergeants are extremely busy, we work 90-100 hours a week
and it would be impossible to talk with parents or friends on a regular
basis. Be assured that your Soldier is okay, and is being taken care of. Also, your Soldiers recruiter has absoultely no knowledge of anything that is currently going on with your Soldier. No need to ask them.
Q: Can I send my Soldier a care package?
A: Please DO NOT send your Soldier anything but letters. Lately we have
been getting many packages with candy, food, and other items. The privates
are not allowed to have these items and they get thrown away. Save your
time & money and spend it on them when you see them.
Q: What are some things my Soldier will be doing?
A: Without getting into too much detail, working out every morning Mon-Sat, learning Ground Fighting Techniques, Firing an M16A4 rifle along with several other machine guns, negotiating various obstacle courses, conducting Foot Marches carrying 35 lb loads, employing hand grenades and anti-personel mines, learning about Army heritage and the 7 Army Core Values, and last but not least-learning what Georgia heat in the summer is all about. :)
